The PSU vs Private Debate is Immaterial. Lets come to Brasstacks.

In the Oil and Gas Sector, You have RIL, then PSU Refiners, OIL and ONGC. Add GAIL to the list. I am not adding downstream gas and converter companies. Its relatively small list.

RIL: Do you even know what you are buying, where is cash flowing or whether cash will ever come out. Great Great Company for Indian Forex and for the promoters. As a shareholder you are SOL(shit out of luck).

PSU refiners: You are GOI bharose on weekly basis. No semblance of profit motive and never possible as we are a poor country and price increase means you have governments falling,\

ONGC and OIL: Tempted, Sorely Tempted but just looking at the execution on the ground of ONGC in KG basin(delay of a decade) and OIL in Assam have put it in too difficult to predict pile.

GAIL and Petronet: I have GAIL, same issues as other PSU with gaps in Imported Gas Pricing and Transfer Pricing. Only solace was buying it cheap. Second is Gas Transmission revenue provides a decent base. And third is increase in CNG/PNG use across cities where it was not prevelant before.

While I am uncertain about how the new management achieved significant progress within a brief timeframe—an area that warrants further investigation—I believe it is inappropriate to involve the previous management in this discussion. The former Managing Director, OmPrakash Garg, and his team had been considering transitioning leadership to a younger team for quite some time (if memory serves, over four years) due to his advancing age. It is conceivable that, given his life stage, his primary focus would have been on maintaining business continuity until the transition could occur seamlessly. I would not anticipate him dedicating time and resources to new initiatives aimed at future growth, especially considering that the incoming team would likely prefer a clean slate and may not wish to inherit partially completed projects. While opportunities may have existed for the previous team to pursue, their priorities may have led them to forego such endeavors. These are my observations on the matter, recognizing that my perspective may not be definitive. Therefore, I encourage conducting thorough research and analysis before forming conclusions.

I live in hyderabad and i could nowhere see the brand… They are basically playing the bull run… It is very hard to believe the numbers given no brand visibility… Also have tried some scuttlebutt in local kirana stores but nowhere available…

It’s true but Amex had responsibility of oversight. My understanding is that they were like Auditors of a company.
