Hitesh Sir,
Your opinion about OCCL technically….
Thanks
Biggest trigger which no one is paying attention is 4x increase in mining reserves.
That’s huge as their biggest asset is their mine.
And, it is totally asset light.
Imagine a real estate company- whose land bank increases 4x overnight at no extra cost.

Since the MD is going, it’s better to do kitchen sinking before rather than leaving it for new one, as often happens with banks.
So the new MD can start with a clean state.
Vodafone has spent 19k Cr in recently concluded auction.
So IMHO, picture abhi baaki hai !
Yes that’s a good view, I think GPIL is under-priced even absolutely, leave alone any comparison with Sarda/Shyam Metalics, though both have their own advantages too in some fashion.
I’m absolutely surprised how Shyam was able to complete major expansion recently (from IPO proceeds without major debt) and looking to raise Rs.5000 cr for even further expansion right from pellets to steel mill, without captive iron ore.
They were probably lucky to not be saddled with debt payments like GPIL and rode the wave last 2 years making surplus money.
My only thinking is if GPIL may be too conservative to have more capacity in time for the next growth wave after this phase of maturity/stability.
I plan to hold GPIL for 5 yrs, so am happy with 5 yr view. Haven’t bought this for short term trading.
Yeah, but only over 5 years ! I wish it was immediate.

While the first order thinking is that with Ukraine/Russian exports out of the market, there should be more demand for others to fill the gap it is interesting to see international iron ore exporters like Vale, Rio Tinto etc also reducing iron ore output.
Looks like India may be the only growth market now and for foreseeable future, but how much the growth and hence steel price stability will be is anybody’s guess.
Portfolio Update:
Added Piccadilly Agro (1.5%) in the high risk section of the portfolio. Its an optimistic bet on the success of their premium single malts.
I came across a couple of articles that indicates that they have launched a very well appreciated premium whiskey last year …
Indri-Trini Is The Single Malt Of A Whisky Lover’s Dreams | Traveldine
The site is very nice as well…
Indri Single Malt: Award Winning Whisky from Northern Distilleries India (piccadily.com)
Apparently they have 12000 liters/day capacity and planning to expand storage capacity as well…
"We are currently in the process of expanding our warehousing and coopering operations. We are adding 12 new warehouses and 60,000 barrels in total. This will bring our total capacity to 1,00,000 barrels.
"
It appears that they also have co-produced another brand named “Kamet” …
Whiskeyfellow: Kamet Indian Single Malt Whisky Review & Tasting Notes
Their 2021 AR also mentions both Indri and Kamet .
To me it looks like that they have taken a few good steps towards this premiumization effort and if the accolades translate to sales, things might become interesting.
It is funny that article you have linked says that 1/3 of China steel will be bankrupt- this is very good news for Indian steel industry.
