The CBI on Thursday questioned Gaurav Mehta, an audit company employee, in connection with its probe into the Rs 6,600-crore Gain Bitcoin ponzi scam case here, officials said.
The central probe agency, which registered three cases related to the alleged scam in October, had called Mehta to appear before its investigation team as soon as possible after his name cropped up in purported tapes of Maharashtra political leaders discussing the encashment of the cryptocurrency worth crores.
Mehta has been questioned since the afternoon in connection with the case. The officers quizzed him regarding the tapes and documents related to alleged investments in cryptocurrency.
The officials said Mehta was also asked if he had shared the voice notes of the political leaders and if so, their details.
The audit company employee is understood to have been asked about his role in the purported bitcoin transactions alleged in the notes, they said.

Ahead of IPO, Enviro Infra Engineers bags Rs 195 cr from anchor investors (21-11-2024)
Enviro Infra Engineers, which is involved in the development of turnkey projects of sewage treatment plants and sewerage system, on Thursday collected around Rs 195 crore from anchor investors, a day before its initial share sale opening for public subscription.
Quant Mutual Fund, Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund, LIC Mutual Fund, Abakkus Diversified Alpha Fund-2, Singularity Equity Fund I and Meru Investment Fund PCC Cell 1 are among the anchor investors, according to a circular uploaded on BSE’s website.
As per the circular, Enviro Infra Engineers has allotted over 1.31 crore equity shares to 22 funds at Rs 148 apiece, which is also the upper end of the price band. This aggregates the transaction size to Rs 194.68 crore.
The Rs 650-crore initial share sale will open for public subscription on November 22 and conclude on November 26. Shares will be available in the price range of Rs 140 to Rs 148 apiece.

Wilmington Trust pays Rs 64.35 lakh to settle FPI norms violation case (21-11-2024)
Wilmington Trust Collective Investment Trust on Thursday settled a case with capital markets regulator Sebi related to an alleged violation of foreign portfolio investors’ rules by paying a settlement amount of Rs 64.35 lakh.
The settlement order came after the applicant (Wilmington Trust Collective Investment Trust – Lazard/Wilmington ACW Ex-US Equity Advantage Fund) proposed to settle the instant proceedings initiated against it without “admitting or denying the findings of facts and conclusions of law”.
“In view of the acceptance of the settlement terms, the instant adjudication proceedings initiated against Wilmington Trust Collective Investment Trust – Lazard/Wilmington ACW Ex-US Equity Advantage Fund is disposed of in terms of the settlement regulations on the basis of the settlement terms,” Sebi’s adjudicating officer Barnali Mukherjee said in the order.

Telecom Regularity Authority of India (TRAI) has released the telecom subscription data for September month. It noted that the wireline subscribers increased from 36.23 million at the end of August 2024 to 36.93 million at the end of September 2024 with a monthly rate of growth 1.93% while the total wireless subscribers decreased from 1,163.83 million at the end of August 2024, to 1,153.72 million at the end of September 2024, thereby witnessing a monthly decline rate of 0.87%.
