Manipur violence: BJP MLA moves SC against HC order on ST status to Meiteis, tribal outfit seeks probe by SIT
Appeals have been filed in the Supreme Court by Dinganglung Gangmei, a BJP MLA, and a tribal outfit, following violence that occurred in Manipur last week. Gangmei is challenging various orders passed by the Manipur High Court on the issue of Scheduled Tribe status to the Meitei community. The PIL by the tribal outfit is asking for an SIT to investigate violent clashes that broke out between tribes and Meitetis.
