Bills lined up to include Chhattisgarh groups in SC, ST lists ahead of elections
The government has introduced two bills to include more communities in the central Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes lists, with an eye on the upcoming assembly polls in the state of Chhattisgarh. The Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2023, aims to include two sub-communities, ‘Mahra’ and ‘Mahara’, in the SC list.
