Congress welcomes reported move that govt may introduce women’s reservation bill

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh stated that the party has been demanding the passage of the bill for a long time. Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram expressed that if the bill is introduced, it will be a victory for the Congress and its allies. The Congress also highlighted a 2018 letter from Rahul Gandhi urging the government to pass the bill. While there is no official confirmation, speculations are rife that the bill has been approved by the Union Cabinet.
