TDP’s Narsipatnam MLA C Ayyannapatrudu was unanimously elected as the Speaker of the 16th Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Pro-tem Speaker G Butchaiah Chowdary announced his uncontested victory after no other nominations were filed. Ayyannapatrudu was escorted to the Speaker’s chair by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who praised the senior legislator’s appointment and highlighted his background to the first-time legislators present.
