I barely ever post but I believe that this point is absolutely critical so I will do so. My feelings are very strong on this subject.
My job posting involves fiduciary duties to shareholders and regulatory compliances. I’m absolutely aware of what is “illegal” vs. what is “unethical”. Just so that everyone is aware of the background.
Furthermore I would like to disclose that I was personally invested in Sandur owing to them owning their own mines and also having a reputation for “high corporate governance”. The day they announced this rights issue I pretty much sold the next day. I have not really benefited or lost from this action by Sandur. But as elucidated quite comprehensively by Kumar Manas the “motive” behind the rights issue was purely for the personal gains of the promoters by increasing their shareholdings for cheap.
Now many, including Donald, whom I greatly respect have said that this is par for course. In ANY company with a modicum of promoter ethics this WOULD NOT be allowed at all. Unethical and illegal are two separate matters in many an occasion. I think people are not either understanding the issue or purposely do not want to understand the issue because of their own biases.
In which world would it be correct to steal from sleeping shareholders who may be old pensioners… investing in this company on the mistaken belief in the ethics of the promoter group? I’m in disbelief at the incredibly high level of discourse at Valuepickr but also the blinders so many people have.
And furthermore in my personal opinion it’s unpardonable for the administrors to remove these valid points and posts without assigning a clear reason.
They could have chosen the bonus issue and that is the best way to reward the shareholders according to my limited knowledge about the markets.
Also I had some shares and applied to the issue but not in equal proportion as a bonus issue. The greatest beneficiary in such a case is inevitably the largest shareholder of the company when every other one fails to contribute.
A lot of big names have given up on sandur manganese after they announced the steel plant during 2021-22 stage.
Disclosure Not invested in both
Sorry to disagree with you. Can not agree that rights issue was not ethical. Sleeping share holders are to be blamed and not promoters. That is true for all companies. As regards purpose and use, please go through the details. Also low price of rights issue may be as a reward to shareholders. Actually it was a God send opportunity to take advantage. If you were invested then you should have applied many times of your entitlement. It appears to be a case of sour grapes.
But I agree that GPIL is much cheaper.
One of largest trucking company is US yellow has gone bust…
Clearly people are unable to make their car payments
With MFs, you pay only when you redeem, unlike FDs. With FDs, there exists an argument that even with 5 year FDs, you have to pay TDS every year.
Good data analysis may be, but would one invest on the basis of these cycles?
Yes, it a company is cheap, good financials and was done because the sector was ignored, may be a cycle may give it a new opportunity. For example, great for many investors of reality now. But would I dip my hand in the boiling cauldron? No.
In fact, what I did was, I bought auto when there was semi-conductor crisis.
I had to buy Rail, Infra, because they were in upcycle and I was suffering from a serious bout of FOMO.
So, may be there is no The Rule?
What was the purpose of rights issue, if not snatching the shareholding of sleeping shareholders?
how much amount was raised? what was it utilized for exactly?
Why shareholding of promoters increased- free of cost- and of retail shareholders reduced?
This was totally unethical. electoral bonds are also legal, but everyone knows it was corruption.
what is legal- may not be right.
No one stopped retail from applying to rights issue. Unless the company mis-represented info, this could be opportunistic thinking, but not illegal. so, repeatedly calling this cheating in a public forum, on THIS basis – may be the reason those posts were flagged/removed. your posts are valuable, so i’d suggest to continue posting, and if you want to compare, please focus on qualitative and quantitative comparison. without calling this rights issue a cheating. would benefit everyone.
