You will suffer more underperformance with this portfolio, no growth in Tech going forward, average to poor returns, FMCG is struggling due to local cheap players and high food inflation, private banks, Credit card companies are over valued. Apart from Ultratech and Reliance in large cap and HP adhesive in micro cap, rest is junk, Polycab is a risky investment now.
Close all FMCG, Sell all large Private Banks, large IT. Buy BOB, Canara, Indian Bank, LIC & LIC housing. AB Fashion, Arvind Fashion, Poonawala fincorp, AB Cap, swelect energy, some good investments i can research.

I have invested in banking stocks such as HDFC Bank, Kotak bank as they are leading banks of India and if India has to grow banking sector must grow. I trust large cap private banks as any scam can affect PSU banks and small banks heavily.
I like technology stocks that is where I invetsed in AFFLE and Tanla platforms. As they are working on internet space and there is a good growth opprtunity in future.
I have tried to diversified my portfolio to include stocks from different sectors and not invested more than 30% in any single sector. My initial thinking was that I would reduce risk by investing atleast 60-65% in large cap stocks. My large caps haven’t given me good returns and same goes for even my small cap investments. I haven’t been able to beat NIFTY 50 index also.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thanks.
Globus Spirits (10-02-2024)
Q3FY24 Conf. Call [Link] key takeaways:
-
Expected cool down in the RM (broken rice) price by Q3 did not happen even though harvest has been good due to commercial term standoff b/w FCI and millers
-
Not to invest (Orissa project on hold, UP project at reduced capacity) in Ethanol Capacity till RM policies in the country are clearer (expected by Q1/Q2FY25)
-
Q4FY24 and Q1FY25 margins expected in the range of 6~8%. Expect a clear policy on the RM by end of Q1/Q2FY25
-
Consumer Business: Globus excels in liquid manufacturing. Will incentivize distributors to prioritize the sales.
- IMFL : Will continue investing for next couple of years. Expect similar growth in Prestige and Above. Aspirational OPM- Prestige and Above/No-Label: 30~35%
- IMIL (Value and Value Plus) expect large growth from UP and Rajasthan. Not much expectation from Haryana and WB.Aspirational OPM for Value and Value Plus: 20~25%
-
Overall: Aspire that each of the categories [Mfg. and consumer business] will contribute equally. Blended margins will be 20+% [Long Term (3~4 years perspective) fair margins for Mfg.: 15% and consumer business: 20~30%]
How to take leverage to go long in market (~2 years)? (10-02-2024)
Then one has to have large caps which will be perceived as strong, so one does not need to put in less compared to an equal amount.
Why would you do this when the market falls?
I think of leverage only because the market is trending and has a chance of going up even more, thereby if I take more trades or bigger trades, I will reap benefits sooner than later. But if the market falls, valuations go down, there will be a lot of opportunities valuation-wise, and if we buy, we may have to wait for long period to see any momentum, so the interest paid will be essentially lost.
I am looking at this purely from a shorter term trading perspective, and not from an investing perspective.
