How to make sense of valuation of a stock? Few things I encountered are
- PE and its comparison with historical PE of the company. Also with its Peers in the industry.
- Then we have DCF valuation
- Another one is Graham’s formula for calculating IV. Screener is also using this one.
My questions are :

How much weight one should give to these approaches and to valuations overall.? Analysing a company have plethora of factor? Lets say IV of a company is less than CMP but PE is higher than historical PE , does it make that stock undervalued or overvalued ? I totally understand that these are parameters to gauge a range of price but how do I make sense of these values when put together?

Is there any book or blog which compares different types of valuations? Just finished my first book “Five rule of successful stock investing” ?

Since both DCF and Graham’s formula are giving an approximate values , would it be safe to use Graham’s formula always just because its easier to calculate? Ofcourse , I will be using all the other factors (ROE,ROCE, P/B, EV/EBTIDA) along with it.

Pressure to sell banking products which are not at all suitable for the customers seems to be the reason behind high attrition rates in all the banks.
If you try to sell unwanted and unrequired products like personal loans, home loans, auto loans, fancy credit cards to people who are above 50+ years of age, then Why they will buy such products? Can the person who is 50+ will take a risk of taking huge auto loans, home loans and personal loans when their job is already in danger to some extent? Most of the people in India today have the constant pressure of job loss after age of 45 itself. Banks target these people for selling high interest rate loans, which is of not much use.
I believe that, HR departments of Banks should set realistic targets which can be achieved in today’s uncertain environment (of massive lay offs and high inflation), and have some mechanism to reward employees apart from setting targets for them. Employee can be rewarded based on some other parameters like efficiency, understanding of customer needs, turn around time, apart from targets, then this attrition problem can be resolved to some extent, else there could be operational risks for the banks.
(Being from IT industry, I can sense that Bank Managements seem to be moving in incorrect direction…)

Industry wide Stud ratio at aprox 15 pc (Gold:Daimond jewellery ratio)
For Senco, Stud ratio stands at 11 pc
Total stores now at > 140 (owned + franchise)
Secco’s Stud ratio in Delhi NCR is much better at 18-20 pc. This helps boost profitability
Gold, Silver, Platinum volumes increased by 8, 7, 9 pc in Q1. Total sales value increased by 29 pc YoY
Same store growth (vol+value) in Q1 at 21 pc
No of unique customers increased by 8 pc yoy in Q1
Generally, Q2 is weaker vs Q1 by aprox 10 odd pc
Sale of billion (coins etc) is about 1-2 pc of sales
Company follows a robust hedging policy. Remains > 80 pc hedged at all times
Company’s sale of diamond jewellery doubled from FY 17-22. Then grew 30 pc in FY 23. In Q1 FY 24, the same has grown by > 30 pc – a very encouraging trend as margins are higher here
Company sells inventory to Franchise owners in one go ie upfront
Company’s current focus is pre dominantly in North and East India – specially towards Tier -2,3 Cities/Towns
Current avg ticket size @ 60k vs 55k YoY
Expect sales of > 1000 cr in Q2 vs around 900 cr LY despite fewer wedding days in Q2 this yr
Have been developing designs differently for North and East Indian tastes. Avg ticket size is higher in North vs East India
Company runs Gold SIP scheme – Gold Swarna Yojana. Has been recieving very good response

Hi @Rahil_Dasani , great pick, but doesn’t it feel like it has already given a breakout in the previous weeks from its resistance (with good volumes) and is now ready to move up after giving a retest on that level?

Still assessing this company. At this valuation, it seems like Good buy for 4-5 yrs then 300B electronic export target can be met.
