I think TCI is better buy because of demerger of xpress division. So even if GST fails demerger talk will prove beneficial for TCI.

Dont worry GST will be passed in 2016 april itself. I am quite sure that opposition party cant stand against GST bill for so long because it is passed in the interest of whole nation. Dont get worried by notional losses in your portfolio. it is only short term phenomenon. sit tight with your gati and tci holding.

The nation has been desperately waiting for GST and I guess the nation will have to wait too long for GST to be passed. Modi's meeting with Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh did raise expectations. But in the current hungama scenario in the Parliament I don't think its possible to hold any meaningful discussion on the GST by any party.

It is becoming more and more of a non-event now. Firstly, there is very little chance that it will be passed anytime soon. The long wait along with repeated failed attempts to pass the bill will fizzle out all the exitement that is built into the logistic stocks due to the expectation of GST. Secondly, even of it is passed chances are that it will be passed with lots of amendments to meet oppositions's demands which will make it lesser effective.

Brings to my mind Amitabh Bachchan's song " inteha ho gayi intezar ki" :);)

GST will have to be implemented sooner or later. GST Bill is unlikely to get cleared in current session. Also in budget session, getting the budget cleared will be the priority of the government. So GST will have to wait. Even after GST Bill is cleared by the Parliament, it wiil have to be cleared in the State Legislatures. So we will have to wait for full implementation of GST.

Arent there just three objections raised by congress?

First, tax rate capped at 18% and this being mentioned in the bill itself. Secondly, it does not want the one per cent bonus offered to producer states. Thirdly, it want to know who will reconcile the disputes arises between Centre and States. Congress wants an independent body to deal with disputes.

Of the three there is consensus amongst experts that only the second has merit and its an easy giveaway. Retained by BJP currently to show its willing to meet midway when it agrees to do away with.

The first one is rather irrational.. Just imagine that every time a rate is to be changed it requires a constitutional ammendment.

Dispute resolution is tricky..... What will be the constitution of this independent body? Representation from states and centre? Anyways the judicial recourse right upto supreme court would be always available to aggreived states if they arent satisfied by the appellate authorities set up ( whether independent body as demanded by congress or as provided in the current version of the bill.

I am no GST expert but this is what i understand of the stalemate.

Do these make the bill less effective? Not sure

Politics and show of strength. None of them are interested in public benefit / national benefit. When BJP was in opposition, they did not allow congress to get GST Bill cleared. Now Congress is doing the same thing. Please read the article "Ace Investors Fume As Dreams Of Mega Bucks Turns To Dust Due To Shenanigans Of Unscrupulous Politicians" It reflects the exact political conditions and current status of the nation.

Unfortunately Raga cares a damn about porinju being angry and in reality one of Raga's cronies can simply haul up this porinju guy and throw him into wells of misery

Actually disruption of the upper house is resorted to becaause if it functions, the congress fear is that the bill may get passed with modi's charisma winning support from other political parties
