IPO could be a wealth creator as shown by DMart IPO recently. One needs more funds to apply and to have a chance to get the stocks and there is the risk the stock will quote below the offer price. Experts may post views on upcoming IPOs.

Just on this point ... "One needs more funds to apply and to have a chance to get the stocks" ... Allotment is pure luck if an IPO is oversubscribed ... In the recent HUDCO IPO my friend applied just 2 lots and he got one. Similarly my uncle applied for 2 lots and he got one. I applied for 2 lots and did not get any ... :)

IPOs are indeed a good investment opportunities. Allotment of shares could involve a matter of luck, however, the stock quote on market post IPO is not. If one invests in well researched IPOs of companies with good prospects, one can avoid above mentioned scenario. Several financial service providers release research reports on company performance around the time of its IPO to help investors take informed decisions.
