Tea is one of the oldest businesses of the Dhunseri Group and has been the flag bearer for the last five decades. DTIL has widened its reach from eight estates in 2003-04 to ten estates in 2012-13 in Assam. As a result, the company is now one of the ten largest tea producers in India. The Company’s tea packaging and blending units are located in Dhunseri Tea Estate (Assam) and at Jaipur (Rajasthan). Dhunseri group has through its subsidiary; Dhunseri Petrochem & Tea Pte Ltd. recently acquired two tea estates in Malawi in South Eastern Africa with a production capacity of 94.50 lac kgs of tea. With this acquisition, Dhunseri Petrochem & Tea Ltd. has joined the elite club of tea companies, who have already made their foray in the overseas tea plantation business.Has acquired 100% share capital of Kawalazi Estate Company Ltd and the Makandi Tea & Coffee Estates Limited (both companies based in Malawi, Africa). Accordingly the company has become the ultimate holding company of these two subsidiaries in Malawi, Africa. The aforesaid two subsidiaries based in Malawi, Africa in totality produce 94.50 lakh kgs of tea and 3.2 lakh kgs of Macadamia. The Company is also engaged in commercial production and sale of macadamia nuts from its Malawian tea estates. The year 2014-15 was one in which this conviction was tested. Indian tea realisations declined by an average of 0.53 per kilogram, resulting in a decline in profits for most tea companies. Dhunseri Tea was an exception. Its Indian tea operations reported a 31.86% increase in PAT in 2014-15. Dhunseri Tea & Industries Ltd has informed BSE that as discussed at the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Company held on November 09, 2015, the Company shall be venturing into some additional new business activities viz Consumer Products to be marketed and sold under the Companys Registered Trademark.
