Value unlocking opportunities

Wanted to gain some knowledge on this theme or idea called Value unlocking opportunities.

"A potential investment opportunity may arise when a demerged company from large corporate house gets listed & has FII holding"

Institutions maybe exiting stock not because of potential of demerged co, but because investment maybe below their tick size, giving rise to opportunity.

An example- given
Marico Kaya was in 250-300 in july 14 demerger, After institutional selling done touched high of 1800 + in 9 months

Recent example being "Arvind Infrastructure". The stock went from 35 to 75 level in no time.
This was tweeted by Porinju.

So we have a new example TCI, which is demerging its express unit.

Questions
1) how to identify a value unlocking opportunity
2) If you did, does it make sense to buy the holding company or the new company
3) Do you see any potential demerger in the talks?

I Think TCI is still a LIVE Chance. Stock only up 20%. Can DOUBLE from here.

 

Should buy tci or wait for the demerged entity to get listed.

I guess thats why tci isnt flying

 

Tata chemicals? If they sell off the fertilisers division and repay all the debt?

 

If you until after the event, you will be buying the "value unlocked" entity. If you believe the unlocking theory you should buy before the event. The demerara process will take up to 12 months and that is why the stock is soft.
