dear shakti almost all have similar experience. dont get obsessed with short term returns it may be - 20%/ - 40% etc. but what matters is in long term. keep ur conviction intact. show patience.

Don't be disturb by these fluctuations. If you have regular other income and stock market is down, inspite of not having cash presently, you can slowly invest your incremental income in good blue chip qualty stocks at beaten down levels. I am from this Catagry. But if you don't have other income like salary or business, just keep quiet. But in future when market goes up follow assets allocation and never invest more than 30 to 40% of your money in stock market.Any body who invest in good quality strong blue chips will not lose money in long term. All of us ends up investing at higher levels ,but only difference of buying at higher or lower level dont make make difference of more than plus minus 3% of avg CAGR.Those who had invested at peaks had made 15% CAGR ,who invested regularly make 18% and those who are good timer had made 21% returns over a period of over period of more than 20 years.Equity will beat taxable bank FD over long term irrespective of level of buying. It is difficult time, but don't throw towel .I also invested at higher levels last year but my buying of earlier crashes and of 2008 crash is taking some care of fall from this peak.

we are a group of 12 members and collect a fixed amount each month and invest monthly or opportunity basis. Means we do invest in SIP mode. We started this group in Feb'15 when Nifty was hovering around 8500. Our 1st year return was around 37% but please dont ask return today..;);) But yes we are still in green...and holding around 20% cash...and past one year experience says that SIP is the best way to invest
