    Well, whether one should at all have an infra stock in the portfolio is a policy decision to be taken. Some experts warn against infra stocks on the basis that (i) the contracts go to the lowest bidder and sometimes contracts have to be bid even if the terms are not remunerative, (ii) there is requirement for large capital and debt to be taken/ equity to be diluted, (iii) there are limited projects and intense competition etc.

    However, experts also suggest that if one is keen on the sector, then one must only buy those stocks which have a good balance sheet and a conservative management which bids at reasonable terms. The names suggested are Sadbhav Engineering, KNR Construction and NBCC.

    I would suggest IL&fs transport because of its good balance sheet .

    Agreed. One of the safer and sensible stocks to have with a good management background.
