Turn Around Stories

Dear friends

We make a lot of discussion on good performing companies whose stock prices are trading at high valuations.

Let us discuss some companies whose performance and stock price is down right now but can perform a turnaround from the current prices.

My pick is Selan Exploration . I think as the fall in crude oil stops, this stock will perform again.

Friends please share your ideas on such turnaround companies.

I have been investing in Suzlon and Shakti Pumps ( this has run up now)

 

Rational for shakti pumps? About 26% pledged shares of promoter. Kindly reply.

 

Some points in favour of the company
- Manufactures pumps used in agriculture and industrial activity and the company is seeing demand recovery in both the sectors
- turnaround is clearly visible in the last few quarters
- performance should further improve due to the operating leverage available.
- GST will reduce the competitivenesd of the unorganised sector
- government moves at upgrading existing pumps with energy saving pumps and/or solar pumps augurs well for the company

PS: no scrip I mention in here is a recommendation to buy. Everybody needs to do their own study.

 

But Sir, why Sakti Pump? Why not others?

 

Simple - I liked it enough to not look at others and I don't regret sitting on a 100% + return in a short time (as for many stock investing and wealth creation is a long term strategy)

But hey if you have any better names please do share it

 

Sir,I m not capable like you to hunt for right investment choice using various screenes..I just wait for luck to present before me.,where I dont have to use much of detaled study. Because detailed study confuses me. I like to work to on big picture idea which in my opinion has not been apprecited by the market. At the moment ,i have no such idea. It will be my honour to tell u when I get it.

 

Luck is an important element. I never expected Shakti to zoom as it has. When I invested, it was with an expected 25-35% appreciation. So I got lucky - wouldn't you agree?

Btw my schedule doesn't accord me with time required to do detailed studies. Many of my investment is based on instinct - whether I like what I read about a company, its products and can I relate it to observable events - so use common sense.

Will wait for a name from you. Until then will read through your interest posts often laced with sharp questions which rather conveniently remain unanswered.

Btw which have been your last 5 purchases and purchases in last 5 months
