my portfolio

Sir.I have 6 lacks s portfolio.all are small and midcaps s stocks.last 10 days .my portfolio down 20%.hold or sell and exit.I made portfolio in sip way last two year.every .month 25 thousand.but now I have no money to by stocks in every month because of buying house.my portfolio today only 5 % up.please guide.more downside or not.my view next 2 or 3 year.

 

Which are the stocks? Are they ok fundamentally? Is business running? Are profits and dividend coming? First you must check that. Stock is down 20% does not mean business is not Ok. If business is ok then fall in stock price is blessing for investor to buy more of stock. So check fundamentals of stock before price.

 

I am also down big time, but holding them and hedging in F&O.

 

Is not this dangerous? How it is done? You write puts or calls or what? How much it costs?

 

This is the first time doing it. I am just considering this as an insurance I am paying to protect my portfolio.

Until now I have mostly sold futures or bought puts. Did it few times and it worked as markets were down.
Considering selling calls as well but still studying and reading about it.

I am still considering selling far month futures as I think volatility is here to remain.

 

You need to give the list of the shares you have purchased. Then only members of this forum can help you.

Haha, this is just risk management approach as you never know the bottom. I am only hedging with Index as individual stocks are too risky for me.

US markets bleeding again today (20th Jan), so expecting we open even lower tomorrow.

 

Thats a really bad news.

 

But the good thing is that even DJIA is oversold and recovery seems to be very close. Probably final leg of panic in the US markets.

 

Hopefully, but reports here say this oversold bounce will be temporary and will be shorted again.

 

Reports and analysts always say something... and market always has a strong reason to panic.

 

I too last around 20% of my portfolio. Today I added some stocks. I expect Nifty to stabilize above 7100-7300 levels and start upward. If you are a long term investor, hold for a great gain.
