At the ‘Gateway of India’, a child admires a balloon while the balloon seller’s son wistfully looks on. The Gateway of India (see below) was built in the Indo-saracenic style to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay, prior to the Darbar in Delhi in December 1911. It is a popular tourist destination. The parking lot near the monument was the site of a terrorist bomb attack on August 25, 2003 which killed several people.
