Container Corporation reports 32% fall in Q2 net profit

Total income of the company decreased by 8.39% at Rs 1454.88 crore for the quarter under review

Container Corporation of India has reported results for second quarter ended September 30, 2016.

The company has reported 31.87% fall in its net profit at Rs 157.84 crore for the quarter under review as compared to Rs 231.69 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income of the company decreased by 8.39% at Rs 1454.88 crore for the quarter under review as compared Rs 1588.08 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year.

Container Corporation of India works mainly in three verticals -- cargo terminal, terminal operator and warehouse operator.

LafargeHolcim hikes stake in Ambuja Cement to 63.11%

The company’s arm has increased its shareholding in Ambuja Cement by 39,100,000 shares to 1,253,156,361 shares

LafargeHolcim’s subsidiary Holderind Investments has increased its shareholding in Ambuja Cement by 39,100,000 shares to 1,253,156,361 shares (63.11 percent of total shares) and in ACC, a subsidiary of Ambuja, by 7,870,000 shares to 8,411,000 shares (4.48 percent of total shares). The purchase price will be paid in Indian Rupees. The impact on LafargeHolcim’s net debt is CHF 325 million.

Ambuja Cements is a part of a global conglomerate Holcim. The company has five integrated cement manufacturing plants and eight cement grinding units across the country.

Lupin launches generic equivalent of Activella Tablets in US

As per IMS MAT June 2016, Activella had US sales of $91.1 million

Lupin’s US subsidiary - Lupin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. has launched its Amabelz Tablets (Estradiol and Norethindrone Acetate Tablets USP, 0.5 mg / 0.1 mg and 1 mg / 0.5 mg) having received an approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) earlier to market a generic version of Amneal Pharmaceuticals’ Activella Tablets (Estradiol and Norethindrone Acetate Tablets USP, 0.5 mg / 0.1 mg and 1 mg / 0.5 mg).

Lupin’s Amabelz Tablets (Estradiol and Norethindrone Acetate Tablets USP, 0.5 mg / 0.1 mg and 1 mg / 0.5 mg) are the AB rated generic equivalent of Amneal Pharmaceuticals’ Activella Tablets (Estradiol and Norethindrone Acetate Tablets USP, 0.5 mg / 0.1 mg and 1 mg / 0.5 mg). As per IMS MAT June 2016, Activella had US sales of $91.1 million.

Amabelz Tablets 0.5 mg / 0.1 mg and 1 mg / 0.5 mg are indicated in a woman with a uterus for treatment of moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms due to menopause and prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis. Amabelz Tablets 1 mg / 0.5 mg is also indicated in a woman with a uterus for treatment of moderate to severe symptoms of vulvar and vaginal atrophy due to menopause.

Pratibha Industries bags order worth Rs 97.8 crore in Nepal

The company has been awarded contract by Melamchi Water Supply Development Board for capacity expansion of water treatment plant

Pratibha Industries (PIL) has been awarded a contract by Melamchi Water Supply Development Board of Government of Nepal for capacity expansion of water treatment plant at Sundarijal for a total contract value of Nepali Rs 155 crore, equivalent to approximately Rs 97.8 crore. The company will implement the project through Joint Venture (JV) formed with a local construction company within two years as per the contract terms.

With this, the company has won contracts aggregating to Rs 609 crore in recent times. Some other contracts bagged by the company include - construction of office building of Noida authority and construction of Academic Blocks/Institutional buildings at North NT Mandi, Delhi. The company emerged as the lowest bidder in tenders for contracts worth Rs 370 crore and is expected to be finalized soon.

Pratibha Industries is engaged in designing, engineering and execution/construction of complex & integrated water transmission & distribution projects, water treatment plants, elevated and underground reservoirs, mass housing projects, commercial complexes, pre-cast design & construction, road construction, metro rails and real estate.

Career Point, nation’s leading education player, has acquired 1,68,000 fully paid up equity shares of Rs 10 each constituting 40% of Gyan Eduventure, the subsidiary of the company and consequently, Gyan Eduventure has now become a wholly owned subsidiary of the company.

The company had recently received Rs 35 crore in its wholly owned subsidiary ‘Career Point Infra’ from Career Point University, Kota towards assets sale transaction. This remittance was over and above the continued payments against management services provided by the company.

Career Point caters to the needs of a student throughout the life cycle of a student (KG. to PhD.), while operating in both the Formal and Informal education streams. In the informal Education system, the company has established a strong niche in test preparation and school curriculum tutoring.

Petronet LNG has reported results for second quarter ended September 30, 2016.

The company has reported 81.72% rise in its net profit at Rs 459.56 crore for the quarter under review as compared to Rs 252.90 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. However, total income of the company decreased by 11.57% at Rs 6705.88 crore for the quarter under review as compared Rs 7583.56 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year.

Petronet LNG is one of the leading players in oil and natural gas industry space. It has India’s first and largest LNG supply terminal located at Dahej.

Dilip Buildcon bags EPC order worth Rs 198 crore in Andhra Pradesh

Dilip Buildcon has been declared as successful bidder (L-1) by the Ministry Of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India for the project ‘rehabilitation & up-gradation from km 108/850 to 160/200 of Rayachoti - Kadapa Road of NH 18 (New NH 40) two lane with paved shoulder in the state of Andhra Pradesh on Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) mode at a project cost of Rs 198.00 crore having length of 51.350 km and completion period of 18 months.

The company’s joint venture (JV) - DBL-DECO has been recently declared as successful bidder (L-1) by Northern Coalfields (Madhya Pradesh), for Excavation of Overburden of First Dig (Solid) & Re-handling by Mechanical Means at Specified Places at NIGAHI OCP of NCL at a project cost of Rs 1,469.84 crore having average lead 5.00 Km and Quantity (BCM) completion 132460000.

Whirlpool of India to invest Rs 140 crore in next 2 years

The company will invest in its existing plants to expand production capacity and manufacture new products

Whirlpool of India, a consumer appliance maker, is investing about Rs 140 crore in the next two years in its existing plants to expand production capacity and manufacture new products. The company which is aiming to double sales in the next four years expects non-core segments such as air-conditioners and built-in kitchen appliances to contribute to 20% of total sales by then.

The company’s operating plants are located at Faridabad, Puna and Puducherry and it manufactures up to 90% of the domestic needs. The company had spent Rs 75 crore capex in 2015-16. In the current financial year, it plans to take this number up by 25%. For the next financial year 2017-18, the company intends to increase capex further by 50% over 2016-17 base.

Whirlpool of India manufactures appliances. The company produces refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, microwave ovens, water purifiers, built-in appliances and other products.
