Sharing here to convey that I think, there is a cultural problem with intel. It is only showing in execution.

World’s shrimp production to surpass 5million metric ton this year which is 10% growth over previous year. India’s estimated growth rate is around 9.5%. Also Ecudaor’s production is growing at much higher rate around 25-30%. Also Technological advances in shrimp production should reduced cost for Ecudaor and their hold on US market is increasing. With supply chain constraints and huge production globally there will be margin pressure in shrimp export in my opinion.
I am not an expert but generally huge supply is negative for any sector. With this kind of production can 2022 be starting of another positive cycle of this sector? Views invited
Not an easy question to answer, in the sense that, there are many angles to it.
Say for example, if a stock is part of one’s core PF, like one is certain of the company’s foreseeable future, its growth, profits or if one wants to have a stock which provides stability, then there is no point in trimming the position, or taking the capital back etc.
On the other hand, if it is a stock or a stock from a sector that is fancied right now, so despite its future potential, if the growth of next 2 or 3 years is priced in already, there may not be any further price appreciation. One can take a decision basing on PE, margins, share holding pattern, management’s and competitors’ commentary etc, and other such quantitative or qualitative factors.
Or if the invested capital is substantial, if it is big, then the capital can be taken out and the profit can be left.
Or even if one is sure of the company’s future, if the chart structure is not strong, one can observe for sometime and can either come out of it entirely or just take the capital back. And if it falls more and consolidates, then one can initiate a position again. Charts help here, because sometimes stocks consolidate for months, so it may not be beneficial if one books profits, because the price may not fall after one has booked profits. Moving averages may help too.
Or to give a small psychological happiness, one can book some % of the profit, say 25% and leave the rest, if the price falls, 25% has already been booked, and if the price rise, 75% still grows.
I am sure, there are many other ways of looking at it.
So there are no rules that can be applied in situations like these, everything is subjective and also each stock is different. Along with the understanding of the business, performance of the stock, psychological aspects are also at play here. If for any reason if the stock doubles from here, and one has booked the entire profit or even just the capital, how would he feel? Or if the price does not move for a few quarters and time correction happens, how would he feel then?
I am yet to experience everything I have mentioned above, so do take my words with a bag of salt.
Bank is strategically not passing on Interest hikes to customers.
It has enough room to weigh down on NIMs and focus on 20% YoY growth in loan book, while making sure that it has a good set of customers on its books. That seems to be his priority, cuz I have been hearing him mention it in every concall, conferences etc. He has said it many times.

I have an equity portfolio in large-caps. Expectation is of 12 to 15%. But, that is only a part of the bigger picture.
I have a leveraged portfolio which is completely protected by a Hedging System. Various aspects of this strategy have been tested over a couple of decades of data, and are proven to have significant statistical advantage. The risk is mostly of volatility, not of capital.

Asian Paint like stocks are fruitful for early investors. Now, it will give risk adjusted FD type returns. I believe I can do much better with my resources (time, money, skillset).

I created a new page : Indicators that tracks the general health of the stock market. I compare the NIFTY-500 versus government bonds (5-Year GSEC). For valuation, I compare the Equity/Bond ratio against the dividend yield of the NIFTY-500. The chart for the Price/Book is another historical valuation indicator.
I came across two indicators : Dividend/Book and Earnings/Book which appear to be correlated with the capex cycle.
To combine multiple indicators into a single number, I trained a machine learning model to predict the 200-day lookahead returns. It was trained on pre-2015 data. The last chart shows the actual vs predicted return. It currently predicts a flat to slightly positive return.
Any idea how this tax percentage is calculated or cross checked? Why the tax percentage is reduced?
The best and worst of the peer group are housed in the same bank. Industry leading NIM and Highest Cost/ Income ratio. IDFC First has achieved most of the targets it set out for itself. This should be the next in line.

Portfolio question- if I have 10% allocation to a stock that has since appreciated (doubled) and now becomes 20%. How does one go about normalising the portfolio?
Should we see % allocation on cost basis or price basis?
Lastly, if seen on price basis and I sell a portion of the appreciated stock to bring back the allocation to 10% am I not cutting my winners here? The wisdom says let your winners run…
