Sanath Jayasuriya Net Worth To Plunge After Estranged Wife Demands $20 Million Maintenance

Sanath Jayasuriya, popularly known as the “Matara Marauder”, had incredible luck on the cricket field. His ODI batting average is an incredible 32.36 and he has a mountain of 13,430 ODI runs. Also he was a very successful left-arm spinner with 421 international wickets. 323 of the runs were achieved in 50-over matches.

However, Sanath Jayasuriya has not had the same luck in the matrimonial and financial field. When Sanath married the lovely Sumudu Karunanayake in 1998, his fans were delighted. This was a match made in heaven they said.

However, that marriage did not last even a year and the couple split with Sanath having to shell out huge compensation to Sumudu Karunanayake.

Then, when Sanath Jayasuriya wooed the lovely Sandra Tania Rosemary De Silva (aka Sandra Jayasuriya), a former flight attendant at Sri Lankan Airlines, his fans were in seventh heaven. When Sanath sired three children with Sandra (a boy named Ranuka and 2 girls named Keshani and Yalindi), his fans were convinced that this marriage was for keeps.

However, when Sanath Jayasuriya’s roving eye fell on the beautiful actress Maleeka Sirisenage, his fans knew that the days of the marriage to Sandra were numbered. Maleeka Sirisenage is aged 28 and was also an air-hostess with Emirates Air Lines. You can see from the picture that she is lovely, attractive and vivacious.

Now, the past has come to haunt Sanath Jayasuriya because Sandra Jayasuriya has filed a divorce petition claiming “malicious desertion” and demanded a hefty USD 20 million as maintenance for each of her three children and herself. In addition, Sandra has also demanded two vehicles from Jaysuriya and for money to pay for the construction of a new home.

Now the problem is that Jayasuriya has retired from cricket. He is currently a deputy minister of postal services in the Government of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. However, there are no big bucks in this job. All that he gets is a paltry salary.

Sanath Jayasuriya did earn hefty during his playing days but he may not have saved much from that given his flamboyant lifestyle and three wives (and the compensation paid to get rid of some of them).

So, all that can be said at the moment is that Sanath Jayasuriya’s net worth is in great jeopardy of being eroded if the maintenance claim of Sandra is upheld. Whether the great “Matara Marauder” will be able to find the cash to pay Sandra remains to be seen.
