Samir Arora is not only an ace stock picker managing billions of dollars but he is also a cricket aficionado. Over the past few days, he has been totally pre-occupied with the World Cup, which included organizing a “Helios Offsite” at Sydney & Melbourne. Such is his devotion to the game that he cannot tolerate any sacrilegious comments from anyone, even if the person making the comments is an accomplished film maker.
Ram Gopal Varma is the maker of block-buster films like Satya, Rangeela, Dil Se, Sarkar Raj etc. He has a massive following of 1.23 million on twitter. However, he has a penchant for making highly controversial statements. On one occasion, Ram Gopal Varma issued blasphemous tweets about Lord Ganesha. This raised such a firestorm of protest that Ram Gopal Varma had to beat a hasty retreat and issue an unconditional apology for offending religious sentiments.
This time, the target of Ram Gopal Varma’s criticism was the Country’s obsession with cricket. He shot off a barrage of tweets making his disgust for the game clear.
I wish and pray to all Gods of my country to cure my country men of this dangerous disease called cricketitis

(I wish and pray to all Gods of my country to cure my country men of this dangerous disease called cricketitis)
Later, when the news filtered out that India had lost to Australia in the semi-final, Ram Gopal Varma could not control his joy. He tweeted:
I am sooooo happyyy India lost because I hate cricket..nd if there's anything I hate more than cricket then it's people who love cricket
— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) March 26, 2015
(I am sooooo happyyy India lost because I hate cricket..nd if there’s anything I hate more than cricket then it’s people who love cricket)
He added:
I request the other countries teams to defeat Indian team again and again till it stops playing and Indians stop watching and start working

Predictably, Ram Gopal Varma’s tweets sparked an outrage amongst his followers with many of them taking him to task for being blasphemous about their sacred game.
Among those who attacked Ram Gopal Varma included Omar Abdullah, the former CM of J&K “No wonder your movies are such block buster hits all the time 🙂” Omar said sarcastically.
However, Ram Gopal Varma also had his supporters. He found an ally in Kamaal R. Khan (KRK), the actor known for his performances in a movie called “Desh Drohi”. KRK posted his own set of vituperative tweets against the game and its players and also lustily endorsed Ram Gopal Varma’s tweets.
Samir Arora stood watching everything quietly till he couldn’t take it anymore. He dashed off a testy tweet:
I hate Ram Gopal Varma more than he hates cricket.
— Samir Arora (@Iamsamirarora) March 26, 2015
(I hate Ram Gopal Varma more than he hates cricket.)
However, Ram Gopal Varma is not one to be cowed down. He shot back:
I love haters because hate is more spicier than love –Kant

Fortunately, for Ram Gopal Varma, the stock market plunged 700+ points at this point, diverting Samir Arora’s attention to more pressing issues. Otherwise, RGV would have been the target of one more barbed tweet from Samir Arora.
I just hope tweets like by RGV are not a way to draw attention to himself… but RGV should learn to respect sentiments of cricket fans….its the national team playing…..if people waste time watching cricket they waste more time watching films…though I must conclude that Indian players must introspect …they are really letting fans down….
Watching movies n tv serials r also waste of time
Dil se is by mani ratnam not rgv
Ram gopal Varma change your name immediately. your talks are all bullshit. neither ram nor gopal only varna. you know only how to bring artificial fear in the minds of viewers. you ghost, have you seen a ghost. if you see it once you will be wet in your pants for sure and then the fear of writing such nonsense about indian cricketers and lovers will scare you to become a sensible person. attempts are to be appreciated not the results, dear RGS.
it is no more indian team BCCI declared by itself in supreme court it is a club
hence the Patriotism angle is full and dumb and what a wastage of time
cricket is by the ,for and of THE MEDIA creation
I agree that BCCI and N Srinivasan have damaged cricket and its integrity but still we are Indians and we like cricket but slowly as you see cricket is losing its charm …this hype and following only took place because of WC…..with this humiliating defeat another blow has been dealt
Nowadays, both cricket and films are bullshit.
