The Lord Ganapati or Ganesh Festival is a major Hindu festival which is celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout India but in Mumbai it assumes special significance because of the scale at which the celebrations take place. It is quite an experience to see the towering idols snaking their way through the crowded streets of the city to the accompaniment of millions of dancing revellers.
