In his report, Biswajit Baruah of ET points out that brokerage houses such as JP Morgan, HDFC Securities, ICICI Securities, and IIFL have recommended some midcap stocks that can outperform the markets in 2015. The stock picks are mostly based on a bottom-up analysis and brokerages expect major earnings rerating for them.

He also points out that investment advisors have opined that the expected recovery in the Indian economy in FY16 may cause midcap stocks to see a big run-up in the market. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) are also likely to participate in this space as they have exhausted their limit in many large-cap stocks.
