Two water vendors pull a barrel of water on a hot summer day accross the streets of Mumbai. The water is pumped out of a tubewell and sold to thousand of hawkers who line the city’s streets. In the background is the magnificient Victoria Terminus building which was built in 1888 and named after the then Queen Empress (Queen Victoria). It is a classic example of the Victorian Gothic architectural style. It was renamed the ‘Chhatrapati Sivaji Terminus’ on March 4, 1996 to appease the sentiments of local politicians. An estimated 2 million passengers travel through the station every working day.
